“The House of the Past” by Algernon Blackwood

Hey all,

I hope you’re excited about the the release of our debut issue in just a few weeks. We have gone through hundreds of submissions and have selected some really terrifying stories for you to read and enjoy. In the mean time, please enjoy Algernon Blackwood’s “The House of the Past” selected by Bryan Babin as this week’s featured story.

Be afraid,

Corey J. Goldberg, Editor

Update

This week’s short story is “The Monkey’s Paw” by W. W. Jacobs. It is a chilling tale of having your wishes fulfilled in the most horrific way possible. “The Monkey’s Paw” is one of the most well known horror stories of all time and is a must read for any fan of the genre.

In other news, the content of the first issue of Abomination is nearly compiled and once it is all selected, production will commence. I am very excited about the poetry and stories that have already been selected and look forward to my inbox full of submissions every morning. We are right on schedule for the release of issue #1 in early April.

As always, if you have any suggestions to make Abomination better than it already is, please feel free to send them my way.

Best Wishes,

Corey J. Goldberg, Editor

“Candles” by Paul Chatlain

Sorry for the delay in the posting of this week’s featured story. We have been very busy here at Abomination compiling the debut issue of the magazine and I think you will be impressed with the results.

This week’s feature is “Candles” by Paul Chatlain. It is a terrifying tale of a man that is condemned to spend eternity in darkness and his very last moments of light.

Stay tuned for more free fiction and thank you for reading!

Sincerely,

Corey J. Goldberg, Editor

H.P. Lovecraft and a Special Thanks.

This week’s featured story is “From Beyond” by H.P. Lovecraft. It is the story of an unknown that lurks in the very edges of our perception. At least for me, there is something innately terrifying about being surrounded by creatures that hide in the fabric of reality. H.P. Lovecraft was a master of tapping into this well of horror and I think after reading this tale, you will find yourself a little more wary of things you used to dismiss as your imagination. Enjoy the story and feel free to share it with your friends.

I also wanted to thank a few people for helping us achieve our Kickstarter goal last week. First, a big thank you goes out to writers David Moody and Theresa Oliver, both of whom were kind enough to post a link to our project on their Facebook pages.

Another writer that I wanted to thank is Kasia James, author of “Writer’s Block”. Not only did Kasia write a lovely post about our publication, she wrote some wonderful Abomination inspired Haiku poems. Check them out at http://kasiajames.wordpress.com/.

Thanks for reading and may all your dreams be nightmares.

Sincerely,

Corey J. Goldberg, Editor
